NEW DELHI: Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday unveiled a comprehensive six-point action plan to clean Yamuna river before 2025.
The plan includes establishing new sewer treatment plants and expanding the capacity of the existing ones, cleaning and revamping the existing sewer network of the city, treatment of drain water, and ensuring that industrial waste water is properly treated before flowing out of the factories.
The plan also includes in situ cleaning of all major drains, connecting JJ cluster waste to sewer, provision of sewer connection directly to homes by government, and desilting of entire sewer network.
Amid raging politics over pollution in Yamuna, Kejriwal recently said that the buck stops with him over cleaning Yamuna and vowed that the AAP government will do it in the next five years.
In a press conference, Kejriwal said cleaning Yamuna is a very challenging task and will take time.
The CM said Delhi government has started work on war-footing and he is personally monitoring it.
